If a New Jersey Army National Guard (NJARNG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJANG.

 

If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

MILITARY POSITION:      177th Fighter Wing/ ASOS

 

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP STATUS:  Employment in this position requires concurrent military assignment to a compatible military position in the New Jersey National Guard in one of the following military specialty codes:

AFSC: 3E03X OR 3E13X

 

Must posses a Special Experience Identifier of SEI 331, and recertify every three years, to certify aircraft arresting systems back into service after major and minor repairs and after an aircraft engagement.

 

LEVEL OF CLEARANCE/INVESTIGATION:  Must Be Able To Obtain A Secret Security Clearance

 

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS: To obtain the required AFSC, acceptance of this position requires a minimum ASVAB Score of 64 in the General area.  ASVAB scores will not be required to apply for the position, however applicants must obtain required ASVAB scores prior to acceptance of the position. The applicant must verify their scores with their Military Personnel Flight/Military Personnel Office.

 

PRE-PLACEMENT PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Requires a physical profile of: 3, 3, 3, 2, 3, 3

 

METHOD OF SELECTION:   NJDMAVA TPR 335.A Merit Placement Plan and the current negotiated union contract.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES (a copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office): Responsible for the interpretation of numerous manufacture drawings, specifications, operating instructions, and test procedures to troubleshoot, calibrate, align and repair a variety of highly complex pieces of powered support equipment.  Performs inspections, preventive maintenance, servicing, repair and adjustment of complex rotary diesel engines.  Must independently determine work sequences, specifications, and special procedures to be used to fault-isolate and repair unusual problems in various pieces of powered support.  Performs intermediate-level maintenance on power support equipment and non-powered AGE.  Troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, and modifies and operates aerospace ground equipment such as AC and DC power generators, various types of internal combustion engines, air compressors, blowers, hydraulic test stands, cabin leakage testers, portable diesel engine driven generators, emergency lighting units, deicers, heaters, load banks, hydrostatic testers, cryogenic carts, decontamination units, thermal bath, vacuum pumps, flow meters, lavatory service trailers, air conditioners and various pieces of non-power support equipment.  Performs maintenance data collection, prepares other required forms.  Prepares for the participates in various types of readiness evaluation such as ORI, IG, and UE inspections, mobility, and command support exercise.  Participate and assists in conducting the necessary safety program for the Aerospace Ground Equipment activity.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  MUST POSSES A VALID STATE DRIVER’S LICENSE FOR THE STATE IN WHICH YOU RESIDE OR ARE PRINCIPALLY EMPLOYED.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:  Experience, education, or training which demonstrates the candidate’s knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Must have 18 months experience in the following:

KNOWLEDGE of and skill in repairing, overhauling and rebuilding major assemblies and systems of power support systems equipment.

ABILITY to troubleshoot more complex malfunctions requiring knowledge of the interaction of several systems.

SKILL in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.

ABILITY to read and use technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematic drawings.

SKILL in using  diagnostic and test equipment.

ABILITY to interpret technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, diagrams, and schematics to make repairs and modifications.

 

SUBSTITUTION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:   Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 6 months of experience.  Courses must be directly related to the work of the position.
