NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP STATUS: Employment in this position
requires concurrent military assignment to a compatible military position in
the New Jersey National Guard in one of the following military specialty codes:

NOTE:
THE INDIVIDUAL SELECTED HAS ONE YEAR TO OBTAIN ADVERTISED AFSC/MOS
LEVEL OF CLEARANCE/INVESTIGATION: Must Be
Able to Obtain Secret Security Clearance.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS: To obtain the required AFSC, acceptance of
this position requires a minimum ASVAB Score of 70 in the Electronic area. ASVAB scores will not be required to apply
for the position, however applicants must obtain required ASVAB scores prior to
acceptance of the position. The applicant must verify their scores with their
Military Personnel Flight/Military Personnel Office.
PRE-PLACEMENT PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires a physical profile

METHOD OF SELECTION: NJDMAVA TPR 335.A Merit Placement Plan and the current negotiated union contract.

MAJOR
JOB DUTIES (a copy of the complete position description is available in the
Human Resource Office): Installs,
operates, maintains and repairs communications transmission systems,
sub-systems and components in accordance with varying designs and
configurations. Generates configuration documentation (e.g.; cut
sheets) for analog/digital signal conditioning equipment and wireless
transmission systems. Develop,
coordinate and implement satellite access authorizations. Tracks, accounts for, and coordinates equipment status and location
through host base. Develops, establishes, and maintains work center
training programs. Ensures mobilization readiness of section
equipment. Manages the
installation spectrum management (ISM) program for the unit in coordination
with National Communications & Information Administration (NTIA) and Major Command (MAJCOM) spectrum
frequency programs and managers utilizing PC-based software.
Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures. Performs other duties as
assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates
must have a valid State driver’s license for the State in which they live or
are principally employed.
NOTE: Applicant must provide

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which demonstrates the applicant’s knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 18 of experience in the following:
KNOWLEDGE of a wide range of technical methods in the detailed performance characteristics of specific communications equipment, systems, services and transmission media. In-depth understanding of basic electronics theory and operating principles, the applications of existing and planned technology for communications requirements, equipment interoperability and compatibility, and the methods and techniques for acquiring equipment, systems, and services to accomplish information transfer.
KNOWLEDGE of maintenance, installation, and operation of analog/digital signal conditioning equipment and wireless transmission systems.
KNOWLEDGE of a wide range of communications concepts, principles, and practices and in-depth knowledge in a particular functional area of communications (transmission media, data transfer, ground to ground radio, switching systems, or other very specific aspects of communications) to review, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex communications problems.
KNOWLEDGE of cryptographic equipment operation, configuration and maintenance.
ABILITY to troubleshoot, install, repair and maintain complex electronic systems using comprehensive knowledge of operating electronic principles, data transmission, interface circuits, antennas, signal behavior, and amplification.
SUBSTITUTION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Study successfully completed in a
college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for
experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom
hours of instruction per week) for 6 months of experience. Courses must be directly related to the work
of the positions.
