If a New Jersey Air National Guard (NJANG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJARNG, and must attend a 4 week Warrior Transition Course.

 

If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP STATUS:  Employment in this position requires concurrent military assignment to a compatible military position in the New Jersey National Guard in one of the following military specialty codes:

AOC: 90A, 91A

3. MAJOR JOB DUTIES (a copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office):  Supervises, instructs, and trains subordinates in the performance of work.  Directs, coordinates, and manages the material readiness program.  Serves as the surface maintenance course manager.  Plans, develops, and manages the Maintenance Assistance and Instruction (MAIT) program to provide necessary training and development of unit personnel.  Develops and directs implementation of mission support plans for new weapon systems or equipment entering the state’s inventory for their impact on the surface maintenance community.  May serve as a member of the State Readiness Committee and as Chief of the MAIT.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:   Experience which has provided a knowledge of one or more classes of equipment.  The experience must demonstrate the applicants possession of:  (1) the ability to understand and interpret standard shop terminology; (2) knowledge of the mechanical principles relating to equipment, a practical knowledge of the construction, operation, overhaul, maintenance repair or installation of equipment; (3) ability to read and interpret blue prints and technician publications; and the ability to write and speak clearly.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Must have 36 months experience in the following:

KNOWLEDGE and SKILL in the design of equipment to avoid maintenance and operation problems. 

ABILITY to develop training aids; presenting subject matter to users. 

ABILITY  to use and operate special tools and test equipment, to research technical publications, maintenance bulletins, blueprints, wiring diagrams, etc., pertaining to the type of equipment. 

SKILL in interpreting and revising purchase descriptions and evaluating contractor bids against equipment requirements.

 

SUBSTITUTION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:   Education in schools above the high school level may be substituted at the rate of one academic year of education for six months of experience.  Each 30 semester hours credited must have included at least 6 semester hours of courses which are directly related to the type of work of the position.
