The following instructions will help you order personalized plates. Click "Get Started" at any time to begin the process.

Note: If your vehicle is leased, you cannot purchase a personalized plate online. Please contact the MVC Special Plate Unit at (609) 292-6500 or toll-free in NJ at (888) 486-3339

Personalized plates are also available for certain qualified alumni, non-profit community or service organization plates. To check availability, contact your organization's license plate coordinator.

Instructions

  • This application will open in a new window. To view the application, make sure your browser's pop-up blocker is disabled
  • You must have a MyMVC account number to use this application. You can register for a MyMVC account online but, for security reasons, we must deliver your username and password by regular mail
  • Have your credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, or Discover) and driver license number ready before you begin. You will also need to know your Social Security Number and current license plate number

User Authentication

  • Enter User ID Number
  • Enter your driver license number
  • Enter the last four digits of your Social Security Number
  • Click "Continue"

Terms and Restrictions

  • Read and then click "Continue"

Enter Current Plate

  • Choose "I am the owner…"
  • Enter your current plate number
  • Click "Continue"

Select New Plate

  • Choose the plate design you want
  • Click "Continue"

Enter New Specialty Plate Text

  • Enter the text you want on your plate
  • Enter only one alphanumeric character per field. Blanks fields indicate a space
  • Click "Continue"

  • Preview your personalized plate
  • Click "Order Plate" to continue

Personalized Plate Request Payment Form

  • Enter "Bill to" information
  • Enter "Ship to" information
  • Enter "Payment" information
  • Enter email address in order to receive a confirmation message
  • Click "Continue"
