On December 2, 2008, Sunshine Foundation will proudly sponsor its 87th Dreamlift from the Atlantic City Airport! 80 special needs children from Cape May County Special Services Schools and Hamilton Township Public Schools will arrive for the 8:00 a.m. flight to Orlando, FL and experience a one-day visit to Universal Studios. Dreamlifts are one of Sunshine's special programs which allow children whose diagnoses do not allow them to be away from home for longer than 24 hours the opportunity for a trip of a lifetime!
Sunshine Foundation is privileged to work with dedicated volunteers who help ensure the Dreamlift's success. Atlantic City International Airport and Midlantic Jet Aviation officials devote their time and service in coordinating crucial details and warmly welcoming the group of excited passengers. Miami Air provides the chartered flight and participants enjoy breakfast, beverages and dinner while on board. Off duty New Jersey State Police Officers, the United States Secret Service, and Atlantic City Airport firefighters act as "lifters," carrying the children on and off the aircraft. Many of these exceptional volunteers also join the children in flight and escort them throughout the park for the day. Universal Studios welcome the children as VIP guests to make their experience a day they will never forget!
Sunshine Foundation, "the original wish granting organization," was founded on the belief that every child should get the chance to see a dream come true. Since the Foundation's inception in Philadelphia in 1976, over 32,000 dreams have been fulfilled for seriously ill, physically challenged and abused children nationwide. Founder and President, Bill Sample, has never said no to a deserving child. Today, 84.3 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to the children's dreams. Since the Sunshine Foundation started its Dreamlift program, over 97 chartered planes have taken 4,986 children to Florida from cities all across the United States.
