New Jersey Rail Service
New Jersey has a highly developed and efficient public transit system.

NJ TRANSIT: NJ TRANSIT is the nation's largest statewide public transportation system providing nearly 857,000 weekday trips on 240 bus routes, three light rail lines and 11 commuter rail lines. It is the third largest transit system in the country with 162 rail stations, 60 light rail stations and more than 18,000 bus stops linking major points in New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia.

The Port Authority Trans Hudson (PATH) and Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) rapid-transit systems link New Jersey to New York and Philadelphia.

Access to Amtrak's high speed Metroliner and Acela lines to Northeast Corridor destinations is available at several stations conveniently located between New York City and Philadelphia.

River LINE:  The River LINE serves 20 stations from Camden to Trenton via a 34-mile route along the Delaware River, carrying more than 7,000 customers on a typical weekday.  The system provides connections in Trenton to Northeast Corridor, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) and Amtrak rail service, as well as NJ TRANSIT's Capital Connection bus service, and connects to Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) service in Camden.

Hudson-Bergen Light Rail:  The Hudson-Bergen Light Rail provides more than 34,000 weekday trips between 23 stations in Bayonne, Jersey City, Hoboken, Weehawken, Union City and North Bergen. The system provides a vital link between Hudson River waterfront destinations, NJ TRANSIT rail and bus routes, PATH trains and trans-Hudson ferry services

ARC Tunnel:  A new railroad tunnel between New Jersey and New York is underway which will allow “one-seat” rail service to New York City on the Main, Bergen County, Pascack Valley and Raritan Valley lines, the Montclair-Boonton Line west of Montclair, North Jersey Coast Line south to Bay Head, as well as the Morristown Line west of Dover. It will also create the capacity for future rail extensions.
