Nathan joins the Highlands Council with 10 years of applied Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and planning experience.  His professional career started in 1997 developing a roads and trails database of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways for the National Parks Service.  While attending graduate school he worked as a planner and GIS technician for the City of Springfield, Missouri.  He has also worked as a geo-spatial analyst for the Department of Defense.  For the past 7 years, he has worked for an international engineering consulting firm integrating and managing the GIS aspects of projects that included GPS field inventory, endangered species and wetland inventory, water, storm water and sewer master planning efforts, as well as a plethora of linear routing projects.  His professional focus is in GIS database development, field data collection, and resource based planning.

Nathan earned a Masters of Science in Resource Planning from Southwest Missouri State University where he researched the effects of roads on mule deer habitat, and a B.S. in Geography with a focus in geology from Northwest Missouri State University.
