Camden Coalition HIE Work Highlighted on CNN

Improved health outcomes produced by the Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers were highlighted in the new CNN special series “American Renewal” by Fareed Zakaria. The first show "Global Lessons: The GPS Road Map for Saving Health" featured Zakaria interviewing Dr. Jeffrey Brenner, who heads the Coalition, and Sandi Selzer, Camden HIE Director. ONC Issues Guide on Protecting Privacy, Security of Health Data

A new guide from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT's Office of the Chief Privacy Officer aims to help healthcare practitioners, staff, and other professionals better understand the important role privacy and security play in the use of electronic health records (EHRs) and Meaningful Use. The guide is a comprehensive, and easy-to-understand tool to help providers and professionals integrate privacy and security into their clinical practice.  Click here to access the guide [pdf].

Enhanced Health IT Teaching Materials Now Available to the Public

ONC is pleased to announce that an enhanced set of 20 curriculum components is now available to the public at no cost, including all institutions of higher education nationwide and internationally. Funded by the $10M ONC Curriculum Development Centers program, these teaching materials have been in use since 2010 with great success by the 82 member colleges of the ONC Community College Consortia program. Based on the enthusiastic response when first released publicly in June 2011, these materials clearly fill an urgent need in the educational marketplace.

What is the Health IT Champion Program?

The Health IT Champion idea first originated as a concept from the Consumer Advocacy and Quality Care Subcommittee focusing on consumer outreach.  The idea was further developed in the New Jersey Health IT Communication Plan as a way to engage and empower all stakeholder groups, and coordinate communication activities with them in the most effective way.
