This webinar is designed to assist health professionals and others who work with diverse populations in locating health information. The resources presented are selected for their emphasis on providing culturally relevant information in the preferred language of the population. Resources that provide background about cultural beliefs and other guidance for providing cross-cultural care will also be introduced. All resources presented are available for free online from reliable sources.
Webinar Presenter Biography:
Kate Flewelling is the Executive Director of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Middle Atlantic Region (NNLM MAR). Based at the University of Pittsburgh and funded by the National Library of Medicine, NNLM MAR promotes the access and use of high quality health information for health professionals and the public. Kate is responsible for leadership, development, administration, and evaluation of all programs of the Middle Atlantic Region, including outreach services such as project funding, training, presentations, exhibits and other types of public programs. She is a regular speaker at national and regional conferences on the use of information for environmental health, LGBT health, and minority health initiatives.
