A meeting of the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners was held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the Richard J. Hughes Justice Complex, 25 Market Street, 4th Floor Conference Center, Trenton, New Jersey. The meeting was called to order by President Paul C. Mendelowitz, M.D.

PRESENT

Board Members Bender, Berkowitz, Cheema, Criss, DeGregorio, Iannuzzi, Lambert, Jordan, Lomazow, Mendelowitz, Nussbaum, Rajput, Reichman, Scott, Walsh and Weiss.

EXCUSED

Board Members Ciechanowski, Stanley, and Paul.

ALSO PRESENT

Assistant Attorney General Joyce; Deputy Attorneys General Ehrenkrantz, Flanzman, Levine, Merchant, Puteska and Warhaftig; Executive Director Roeder.

STATEMENT CONCERNING THE
ANNUAL NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETINGS

The requirements of the “Open Public Meetings Act” have been satisfied by notice of this meeting given in the annual notice adopted by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners on September 10, 2008 which was transmitted to the ATLANTIC CITY PRESS, STAR LEDGER, CAMDEN COURIER POST, ASBURY PARK PRESS, BERGEN RECORD and the TRENTON TIMES, all on the 1st day of October 2008.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Dr. Mendelowitz welcomed the new Board members – Drs. Berkowitz, Iannuzzi, and Rajput and Ms. Bender. He welcomed their talent and contribution and was positive they would find it an invaluable experience.

He also thanked Drs. Criscito and Haddad for all their hard work and commitment. He expressed his sentiment that they would be missed both professionally and personally.

NEW BUSINESS

1. ATHLETIC TRAINERS RULE PROPOSAL

Attached was a draft of the Athletic Trainers' rules. The Board was asked to approve the draft for publication in the New Jersey Register for notice and comment.

THE BOARD, UPON MOTION MADE AND SECONDED, VOTED TO APPROVE THE PROPOSAL FOR PUBLICATION IN THE NEW JERSEY REGISTER FOR NOTICE AND COMMENT.
