Forensic Pathology Fellowship
Description:
With
4 full time forensic pathologists, an in-house
state toxicology laboratory and 1200-1300 autopsies
per year, the Newark Regional Medical Examiner
Office is a superb program to prepare for a career
in Forensic Pathology. With increasing levels
of responsibility, the Fellow will perform approximately
250 autopsies, visit at least 45 scene investigations,
attend morning and afternoon case review and autopsy
conference, as well as bi-weekly Journal Club,
Pending/Toxicology Conference, a weekly Forensic
Pathology Lecture Series and daily lectures for
students/fellows. Fully paid attendance at the
NAME or AAFS Meeting and rotations through the
State Crime Laboratory and Toxicology Laboratory
(with on-going anthropology and odontology training)
complete the experience. Opportunities for Fellow
research, teaching and court testimony are offered
and highly encouraged. The UMDNJ medical students
and residents rotate through the facility. Access
to the UMDNJ medical school is available.
Requirements:
At least two years of training in Anatomic Pathology
Stipend: $110,000
