The Treasury Section provides counsel and representation
to the various divisions of the Department of
Treasury, including Taxation, Purchase and Property,
Investments, Leasing, Office of Management and
Budget, Office of Public Finance, and Pensions.
The Treasury Section also provides counsel and
representation to various State authorities and
commissions including the Economic Development
Authority, Schools Construction Corporation, the
Educational Facilities Authority, the Garden State
Preservation Trust, the Building Authority, the
Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, the Lottery
Commission, the Commerce and Economic Growth Commission
and the Health Care Facilities Financing Authority.
The section's representation of the Division of
Taxation and the County Boards of Taxation includes
bankruptcy court and New Jersey Tax Court litigation.
The section also represents the Division of Pensions
and the various boards of trustees of State pension
plans, including administrative litigation regarding
pension eligibility. Representation of the Division
of Purchase and Property includes advice regarding
contracting and commercial litigation. The section
provides counsel in the financing transactions
undertaken by the State and its various independent
authorities.
