Division of Criminal Justice - Office of Insurance Fraud Prosecutor Charges Middlesex County Nurse Assistant with Theft
from Elderly Nursing Home Patient

TRENTON - Division of Criminal Justice Director Gregory A. Paw announced that the Division of Criminal Justice - Office of Insurance Fraud Prosecutor has charged a Middlesex County Certified Nurse Assistant with stealing more than $6,000 and an automobile from an elderly nursing home patient.

According to Greta Gooden Brown, Insurance Fraud Prosecutor, Eldora McCall, aka Eldora Collins, 41, Old Cranbury Road, Cranbury, Middlesex County, was charged via a State Grand Jury indictment with two counts of uttering a forged document, one count of attempted theft by deception, and one count of theft by unlawful taking (3rd degree). If convicted on all charges, McCall faces up to 20 years in state prison and a fine of up to $60,000. In addition, the indictment will be referred to the Department of Health and Senior Services, which certifies Nurse Assistants, for appropriate administrative action.

The indictment alleges that in July, 2004, McCall, a licensed nurse assistant at Meadow Lakes Nursing Home located in East Windsor Township, Mercer County, forged two checks drawn on the account of an elderly nursing home resident. The alleged theft totaled more than $6,000. The investigation also uncovered evidence that in March, 2005, McCall allegedly took possession of a 2001 Buick LeSabre from the same nursing home resident without paying for the vehicle.

Investigator Anthony Iannice and Deputy Attorney General William Hoyman were assigned to the investigation.

The indictment, handed up on Feb. 22, is merely an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent of the charges unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
