TRENTON
–Attorney General Paula T. Dow and
Criminal Justice Director Stephen J. Taylor
announced that the former owner of two Passaic
County nail salons was sentenced today for
offering money to an undercover investigator
in order to obtain a false inspection report
after multiple violations were found at
his salon.
Won
Jun Hur, 45, of Norwood, Bergen County,
was sentenced to three years probation conditioned
on 364 days in Passaic County jail by Superior
Court Judge Marilyn C. Clark in Passaic
County. The sentence was based on Hur’s
Dec. 22 guilty plea to unlawful benefit
to public servant. Hur was charged in a
July 8, 2009 state grand jury indictment.
In
pleading guilty, Hur, the owner of Angel
Tips Nail Spas on Rt. 46 and Angel Tips
Nail Spas on Ackerman Ave., both in Clifton,
admitted that he gave money to an undercover
investigator. An investigation by the Division
of Criminal Justice determined that Angel
Tips Nail Spas on Rt. 46 had multiple violations,
including unlicensed employees and unsanitary
conditions within the salon. Upon learning
of these violations, Hur arranged a meeting
with the undercover investigator. Hur admitted
that, at that meeting, he provided less
than $200 to the undercover investigator
so that she would provide a false inspection
report indicating that there were no violations.
Detectives
Lisa Shea and Robyn Greene and Deputy Attorneys
General Frank Brady and Richard Queen coordinated
the investigation. Queen represented the
Division of Criminal Justice at the sentencing.
The matter was referred to the Division
of Criminal Justice by the New Jersey Division
of Consumer Affairs.
