La Irvington High School gana el 2014 State Consumer Bowl

NEWARK - Irvington High School hoy anunció que ha ganado el 18th Annual New Jersey Consumer Bowl, siendo los Campeones del Estado después de ganar a  Governor Livingston High School y a Gateway High School durante la ronda final que tuvo lugar en el Hughes Justice Complex en Trenton.

“La competición ha terminado pero la información adquirida por más de 400 estudiantes que han participado en la competición del Consumer Bowl les durará por toda la vida,” dijo el Fiscal General Interino John J. Hoffman. “Todos somos consumidores durante todas nuestras vidas, y desafortunadamente, todos también estamos a riesgo de ser víctimas de fraude al consumidor. Sin embargo, estos estudiantes están ahora entre nuestros más inteligentes consumidores y alertos a detectar el fraude y evitar las estafas en el mercado.”

Un total de 84 escuelas compitieron en el 2014 Consumer Bowl que fue organizado por la División de Asuntos del Consumidor de Nueva Jersey (New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs). La competición empezó en Enero entre los condados, con los campeones de los condados enfrentándose en competiciones regionales. La Irvington High School representó al Northern New Jersey, Governor Livingston High School representó al Central New Jersey y Gateway High School representó al Southern New Jersey.

“Encomiendo a los maestros que asesoraron a sus equipos durante la competición del Consumer Bowl y a los administradores de las escuelas por reconocer lo importante que es la educación al consumidor. Los estudiantes que compitieron saben nuestras leyes de protección y sus derechos como consumidores,” dijo Steve Lee, Director Interino de la Division of Consumer Affairs.

Los tópicos del Consumer Bowl incluyeron artimañas de Ponzi, donaciones a caridades, requisitos para el telemercado, mejoras de vivienda, robo de identidad y asuntos de automóviles.
