Un hombre del Condado de Sussex imputado porque se alega intentó robar miles de dólares de la anualidad de una pariente anciana

TRENTON – El Fiscal General Interino John J. Hoffman anunció que un hombre de Sussex County fue procesado hoy en la corte en cargos, se alega, porque intentó robar miles de dólares de la anualidad de una pariente anciana y pretender ser el pariente cuando se comunicó con la compañía de seguros.

Jason Crozier, de 43 años de edad, de Franklin, fue cargado el día 24 de Abril en una acusación judicial con cargos en segundo grado de fraude de seguro, en tercer grado por intentar robo por decepción, y en cuarto grado por robo de identidad. Él fue procesado hoy por el Juez de la Corte Superior Thomas J. Critchley, Jr.,en Sussex County. El Juez Critchley puso la libertad bajo fianza a $15,000.

La acusación judicial alega que entre el 4 de Abril y el 15 de Mayo del 2013, Crozier intentó robar $5,500 de la anualidad de una pariente anciana. Se alega que Crozier se puso en contacto con Prudential Insurance Company of America en múltiples ocasiones por teléfono y email y dio la falsa impresión a Prudential que él era en efecto la pariente anciana. Una investigación determinó que Crozier alegadamente intentó hacerse pasar por la anciana mujer en sus llamadas telefónicas con Prudential. Crozier alegadamente continuó haciéndose pasar por la pariente anciana y proveyó a Prudential con la información personal de identificación de la pariente, incluyendo su número de seguro social, fecha de nacimiento y el número del contrato de la anualidad. La acusación judicial alega que Crozier no tenía permiso de la pariente para actuar de parte de ésta. Crozier se alega remitió documentos para retirar $5,500 de la anualidad.

El Delgado del Fiscal General T.J. Harker y los Detectives Wendy Berg y Matthew Armstrong coordinaron la investigación. El Delegado del Fiscal General Harker presentó el caso al gran jurado del estado. El Delegado del Fiscal General Dennis Kwasnik representó a la Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor en la prosecución. El Procurador Interino de Fraude en Seguros Ronald Chillemi le dio las gracias a Prudential por referir el caso a la Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor.

El cargo es solamente una acusación y el acusado se presume inocente hasta que se pruebe culpable. Crímenes en segundo grado llevan una sentencia máxima de 10 años en la prisión del estado y una multa criminal de $150,000. Crímenes del tercer grado llevan una sentencia de 5 años en la prisión del estado y una multa criminal de hasta $15,000 mientras que crímenes en cuarto grado llevan una sentencia máxima de 18 meses en la prisión del estado y una multa criminal de hasta $10,000.
