Un hombre de Filadelfia arrestado en el solar de parqueo del centro comercial de Deptford por intentar vender un kilogramo de cocaína que iba destinada de venta a Atlantic City

TRENTON – El Fiscal General Interino John J. Hoffman anunció hoy que un hombre de Filadelfia fue arrestado sin incidencia el Sábado por la mañana en el solar de parqueo del centro comercial Deptford Mall en Gloucester County porque se alega que tenía posesión de un kilogramo de cocaína, con un valor de $40,000, que estaba destinada a venderse en Atlantic City.

Eduardo Colón-López, 36, fue arrestado por miembros de implementación de la ley asignados a la Atlantic City Task Force o ACTF (Comité Especial de Atlantic City), que está compuesto por investigadores de agencias del estado, de condados y municipios. Fue cargado en primer grado con posesión de cocaína y en primer grado con posesión de drogas con intención de distribución. El Juez de la Corte Superior de Atlantic City Mark Sandson puso la libertad bajo fianza a $250,000. Un crimen en primer grado lleva una sentenciad de 10 a 20 años en la prisión del estado y una multa criminal de hasta $200,000.

El arresto de Colón-López fue parte de una investigación en curso por la ACTF en una alegada conspiración de distribuir cocaína en volumen en Atlantic City. Hasta su arresto, Colón-López era conocido por la ACTF solamente como “Papito.” Para aprehenderlo, un policía de la New Jersey State Police encubierto se engració con Colón-López por varias semanas y convenció al traficante de drogas de completar una transacción de cocaína en plena luz del día en el solar de parqueo del centro comercial.

El Fiscal General Interino Hoffman les dio las gracias a los miembros de ACTF que participaron en el arresto, incluyendo la División de Justicia Criminal (Division of Criminal Justice) la División de la Policía Estatal de Nueva Jersey (New Jersey Division of State Police), al Departamento de Seguridad de la Patria (Department of Homeland Security), a la Oficina del Procurador del Condado de Atlantic (Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office), a la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Atlantic (Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office, al Departamento de Policía de Atlantic City (Atlantic City Police Department) y al Departamento de Policía de Pleasantville (Pleasantville Police Department).
