El Equipo de Respuesta a Tiroteos del Fiscal General investiga un incidente de tiros en Sayreville envolviendo el comité especial de drogas del condado

SAYREVILLE – El Attorney General’s Shooting Response Team está conduciendo una investigación en las circunstancias de un tiroteo ayer en Sayreville en el que un miembro de un comité de narcóticos del condado disparó a un sospechoso al tiempo que éste chocó contra un carro de la policía y golpeó a un oficial cuando intentaba huir de la policía.

Según la investigación preliminar, a aproximadamente las 5:15 p.m. el Jueves, miembros del Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force estaban conduciendo una investigación de drogas envolviendo una planeada compra de heroína encubierta fuera de Rite Aid Pharmacy en 3553 Washington Road in Sayreville. El enfoque de la operación era Isaiah D. Roberts, 38, de Parlin, N.J. Cuando Roberts condujo en la parte de atrás del solar de la farmacia su 2006 Chrysler 300 negro, él observó a los oficiales encubiertos aproximándose e intentó girar el carro. En su intento de huida, se alega que chocó contra un auto de policía camuflado y un detective de la Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. En ese momento, un oficial del Perth Amboy Police Department asignado a la Prosecutor’s Office disparó con un rifle a Roberts. El disparo no le tocó a Roberts que continuó huyendo del solar, chocando contra 3 vehículos de policía camuflados. El vehículo de Roberts se paró después de un choque con un vehículo de la policía, y fue puesto bajo arresto sin más incidentes. Al ser detenido, se descubrió que Roberts tenía 10 “bricks” (o paquetes de aproximadamente 50 dosis únicas de pliegues de papel glassine de heroína) en su persona. El oficial que fue chocado por el auto de Roberts fue tratado por lesiones menores en Robert Wood Johnson Hospital en New Brunswick y dado de alta.

Roberts fue cargado por el Attorney General’s Shooting Response Team en segundo grado de atento de homicidio, en segundo grado de asalto agravado, en segundo grado de eludir a la policía, y en tercer grado de posesión de un arma (su vehículo) para propósito ilegal. Los cargos de narcóticos han sido puestos por la Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. Roberts fue procesado en Sayreville Police Headquarters y fue detenido en Middlesex County Jail (cárcel) con libertad bajo fianza de $500,000. Los cargos son solamente una acusación y el acusado es inocente hasta que se pruebe culpable.

El incidente permanece bajo investigación por el Attorney General’s Shooting Response Team. Ninguna otra información se ha publicado a este tiempo. Bajo la Attorney General Directive, el Shooting Response Team, compuesto de delegados del fiscal general, detectives de la Division of Criminal Justice, y detectives de la State Police Major Crime Unit, son mandados al lugar del tiroteo para tratar la investigación de tiroteos que envuelven la policía estatal u oficiales empleados por los procuradores de los condados tal como detectives/investigadores o miembros de comités especiales del condado.
