New Jersey State Police Accepting Applications

West Trenton, N.J. – Attorney General Christopher S. Porrino and State Police Superintendent Colonel Joseph R. Fuentes have announced the dates for the opening of the New Jersey State Police application process. Applications will be accepted online from February 13th through February 27th. 

Troopers can pursue one of the many diverse career paths that the State Police offers based on personal interests and specialized skills, while also working to ensure the public’s safety. All eligible men and women are encouraged to apply. Those interested should visit www.njsp.org to complete the online application. 

Candidates are invited to participate in a live question and answer session with recruiters today at 1:00 p.m. on the New Jersey State Police Facebook page at www.facebook.com/newjerseystatepolice. You do not need to have a Facebook account to watch, but you will need one to submit a question.  

"From community policing to homeland security, aviation to marine law enforcement, crime scene forensics to cyber investigations, the New Jersey State Police has a specialty area that is sure to suit an applicant’s unique skills and interests," said Attorney General Porrino. "We are looking for bright, energetic men and women who have demonstrated responsibility and character and are up to the challenge to be their best."

"We are looking for bright, dynamic candidates who are seeking a career that is not only rewarding, but one that is challenging and ever changing," said Colonel Fuentes. "We have a large organization with a variety of specialized positions, which provide troopers with many career opportunities that are unique to their skill sets and interests."
The New Jersey State Police offers a great starting salary, excellent benefits and continuous training in over 120 exciting career paths.

Here are the minimum requirements to apply:

Applicants must be at least 21 years old and must not reach their 35th birthday prior to the graduation of their State Police class. 

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria by June 30, 2017:

(1) A bachelor's degree; OR (2) an associate's degree or 60 college credits, PLUS at least 24 months of satisfactory employment or military experience; OR (3) 30 college credits, PLUS at least 24 months of active duty military service with an honorable discharge. All college degrees/credits must be from an accredited college or university. 
Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and have a current driver’s license.
