NEWARK – The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs has proposed new rules regarding the licensure and regulation of elevator, escalator, and moving walkway mechanics.
P.L. 2012, c. 71 created the Board, required elevator mechanics to become licensed, and authorized the Board to regulate the practice of elevator mechanics. The proposed new rules effectuate P.L. 2012, c. 71 by establishing the process for obtaining a license as an elevator mechanic. The proposed new rules also establish practice standards for elevator mechanics.
The proposed regulation, and information on how to submit a comment by June 30, 2017, can be viewed here.
