Date of Proposal: March 19, 2018
Proposal Number: PRN 2018-030
Proposal Description: The New Jersey Racing Commission is proposing several amendments to its rules governing Medication and Testing Procedures for harness racehorses. Specifically, the amendments will alter split sample testing procedures in order to better protect the health and safety of racehorses in New Jersey, as well as the integrity of the sport. The amendments are proposed to lessen the effect of specimen sample degradation between the time of the primary drug test and the split sample test. (Certain factors can accelerate the degradation process such as exposure to light, oxygen, chemicals, temperature and the passage of time.)
