  Our Mission  
  is to provide compensation to innocent victims of violent crime for some expenses they suffer as a result of the crime. In carrying out it's mission, the VCCO is mindful of the special needs of those victimized by crime and their right to be treated with fairness, compassion and respect.

New Law Expands Benefits to Victims of Crime - The legislature recently passed P.L.2011, ch. 165, which amends the Victims of Crime Compensation Office our enabling statute. The new law is scheduled to take effect on March 1, 2012. The new provisions expand the time for filing and provide additional benefits to victims. more...
 
 
VCCO’s FY 2011 Summary of Awards
  In FY 2011, approximately $9.7 million was awarded to victims of crime. Preliminary analysis revealed approximately $4.95 million was paid for medical/ dental; $2.72 million* was awarded for economic loss; $1.27 million* was paid for funeral/burial services and $.71 million* was paid for counseling. The Agency received 3,571 new claims and processed an additional 1,367 supplemental claims. *Approximate Figures
  The forthcoming Annual Report will provide a comprehensive analysis on the Agency’s overall performance in various areas.
