52:4B-3. Victims of Crime Compensation Agency;
members; appointment; allocation to department of law and public safety
There is hereby established in the Executive Branch of the State Government a Victims of Crime Compensation Agency which shall be composed of 5 citizens, to be appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate, one of whom shall be designated chairman by, and serve as such at the pleasure of, the Governor. Not more than three of the members of the board shall be members of the same political party. At least three members of theboard shall be attorneys admitted to the practice of law in the State of New Jersey. For the purposes of complying with the Constitution (Article V, Section IV, paragraph 1) the board is allocated to the Department of Law and Public Safety but, notwithstanding said allocation, the board shall be independent of any supervision or control by the department or the Attorney General or any other officer of the department.
