Melissa Liebermann

Special Counsel for Ethics and Compliance
 
 
Melissa Liebermann serves as the Attorney General’s Special Counsel for Ethics and Compliance. She previously served as the Chief of Staff. She joined the Attorney General’s Executive Leadership Team in October 2016, where she served as Counsel to the Attorney General until January 2018. Before that, Melissa served as a Managing Director at K2 Intelligence in New York. Between 2008 and 2015, Melissa played a central role in the creation and development of the Office of the State Comptroller, where she served as the office’s first Chief of Staff and later served as Deputy State Comptroller and Acting State Comptroller. Earlier in her career, Melissa worked in the Office of Counsel to Governor Jon Corzine and Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis in Woodbridge. After clerking for Judge Philip Carchman of the New Jersey Appellate Division, she began her legal career as a Deputy Attorney General in the Division of Law. She graduated from Tufts University and Rutgers University School of Law in Newark.
