The Business Action Center’s State Marketing Unit is charged with promoting and marketing the State’s attractiveness as a vacation destination and business investment location nationally and internationally. The unit is comprised of Economic Development Marketing and Outreach, as well as the State’s Department of Travel and Tourism.
In support of the Business Action Center’s tourism and economic development activities, the unit markets the State through its unique programs, advertising, and public relations campaigns. In addition to its promotional activities, the unit strongly supports the state’s initiatives through vital partnerships with key economic development and tourism industry partners throughout New Jersey.
Division of Travel and Tourism
The Division of Travel and Tourism is responsible for promoting and supporting businesses in the tourism industry.
A major element of the Division’s programs is the VisitNJ.org website. Vast new changes to
the site now gives NJ tourism related businesses the ability to self promote by allowing them the ability to
change their own listings to include updating their information, adding photos, videos and deals.
Another addition to the website is the launching of mobile applications that will make available to those on the go all the information that’s on the website. The new mobile applications follow on the heels of the Division implementing Facebook, Twitter and YouTube on the website.
The annual Travel Guide is another tool that businesses can use to advertise and also have their operations listed. The 400,000 copies of the guide are heavily distributed in the tri-state area, to other states and overseas. The Division also produces other publications that are geared to popular tourism interests and are designed to promote the state and generate interest and ultimately attract visitors.
In the area of partnerships the Division operates the competitive grant program, which helps fund targeted marking initiatives at the local and regional level.
The Division is also responsible for developing and implementing an annual multi-media advertising campaign.
In addition, the Division maintains a number of staffed visitor centers to help travelers get to their destinations and answer questions regarding accommodations, attractions and more.
