The New Jersey Turnpike Authority was created by the New Jersey Legislature on 27 October 1948 "to facilitate vehicular traffic in the State of New Jersey by providing for the construction, maintenance, repair and operation of turnpike projects" (P.L. 1948, chap. 454 p. 1856). This series consists of a set of annual reports of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority for the years 1949-1959, 1962-1966 and 1973. The reports discuss turnpike construction, safety, service stations, restaurant facilities, revenue, operating expenses, and investments. Most reports also include maps of the Turnpike, and photographs of Authority facilities and personnel.
