New Jersey Department of State

The state of New Jersey history is alive and well, due in large part to the continued partnership of the New Jersey State Archives, the New Jersey Historical Commission and the New Jersey Historic Trust. These three state agencies dedicated to the preservation and promotion of New Jersey's heritage have come together with the Public Policy Center of New Jersey, which publishes New Jersey Heritage magazine, to publish the New Jersey Gazette.

The New Jersey Gazette is named after New Jersey's first newspaper, which was first published in Trenton on December 17, 1777. Following in the tradition of its namesake, the New Jersey Gazette will serve the history community and interested New Jerseyans in the same informative manner. Published three times a year within the pages of New Jersey Heritage magazine, the New Jersey Gazette will be a conduit for the public to learn about past preservation efforts, current history projects, and upcoming opportunities to ensure that our state's past will always be a vital part of its future
