Salem County - Surrogate's Office
The Salem court was established in the Province of West Jersey in 1681; Salem County was formed from the Salem Tenth on 17 May 1694. Its southern portion was set off as Cumberland County in 1748.
Recording of wills and estate inventories at the county level began in 1804. Orphans Courts were established in 1785.
