Department of Personnel (Civil Service) and related agencies

The Civil Service Commission was created in 1908 to reduce partisanship in government employment practices and to promulgate and administer associated rules and regulations. The Department of Civil Service was established in 1948.

Under 1986 law, the Civil Service Commission became the Merit System Board and the Department of Civil Service became the Department of Personnel.
