NJ Division of Elections Reminds Candidates of April 1, 2013 Petition Filing Deadline for June 4 Primary Election

February 20, 2013 - Trenton, NJ — The New Jersey Division of Elections today reminded candidates seeking their party's nomination for Governor, State Senate and General Assembly that petitions must be submitted by 4 p.m., April 1, 2013, in order to appear on the June 4 Primary Election ballot.

Completed petitions must be delivered in-person to the Division of Elections at 225 West State Street in Trenton.  Faxed or e-mailed copies will not be accepted as original signatures are required.

Petitions are available online at Elections.NJ.gov.

For the petition filing process to run smoothly, the Division of Elections is offering candidates an opportunity to schedule an appointment prior to the petition filing date.

"The petition filing deadline is quickly approaching and we're expecting a large number of candidates to submit petitions this year," said Robert Giles, director of the Division of Elections. "Last year, we began offering appointments and it went extremely well."

Scheduling an appointment can be done quickly and easily by visiting http://www.state.nj.us/state/elections/candidate-petitions-filing.html.

Appointments are available Monday through Friday at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily until March 31, 2013. The petition filer will be contacted by the Division of Elections to confirm the selected time or schedule an alternative time.
