Two Great Tours of Morristown National History Park Slated For November 18th!
As part of the 2016 New Jersey Forum, the NJHC is proud to announce that two exciting tours of historic Morristown National Historic Park (NHP) will take place on Friday, November 18th:
Drive-By History Tour
(2 pm – 2 ¾ hours)
Sit back and relax as park ranger and historian Eric Olsen takes you on a bus tour through Morristown, Jockey Hollow and the surrounding area. Learn about the Revolutionary War encampments, the summer homes of New York millionaires, the history of Morristown National Historical Park, even the interstate highway system. Hear tales of farmers, soldiers, generals, Loyalists, CCC boys and park rangers who lived, worked and died just outside the window of your bus.
Meeting Location:
Morristown NHP’s Washington’s Headquarters
30 Washington Place, Morristown, NJ 07960.
Parking will be available in the large, lower parking lot on Washington Place. The tour bus will leave from there.
That’s at Morristown? Curatorial Behind-The-Scenes Tour
(3:45 pm & 4:45 pm – 45 mins.)
PLEASE NOTE: Curatorial Behind-The-Scenes Tours SOLD OUT
Embark on a journey with Morristown NHP’s Chief of Cultural Resources Dr. Jude Pfister to see sights that few get to see. While less than 1% of Morristown NHP’s collection is on exhibit, the storage areas, off limits to visitors, contain the remaining 99% of the park's collection. This rare opportunity will allow forum guests to see and hear about how the park deals with storage issues, collection policies; and other insider topics that rarely are discussed. Finally, there will certainly be a handful of artifacts available for viewing which will cause guests to say, “Hmmm, Morristown has that?”
Group Size:
Each group is strictly limited to 12 people.
Meeting Location:
Morristown NHP’s Washington’s Headquarters

Park in the large, lower parking lot on Washington Place, and then walk up the hill on the pedestrian path to the front door of the museum. The tour will start in the main entry hall of the museum. Please allow yourself plenty of time to arrive at the meeting point. Individuals with accessibility issues, please park in the small, upper parking lot near the museum’s front door, or parallel-park up the hill on the street, near the front of the museum.
