Hector Berlioz - Roman Carnival Overture, Op. 9
Alan Hovhaness - Mysterious Mountain, Opus 132
Camille Saint-Saens - Symphony No. 3, "Organ Symphony", Op. 78

Our celebratory 5th season opens with yet another first: We're powering up the War Memorial's famous Möller Theater Pipe Organ in order to augment the orchestra in Saint-Saens' most admired and performed work, his Symphony No. 3. This is a symphony replete with beautiful themes, atmospheric colors, and with the addition of the organ in the finale, huge power. The talented organist Joseph Jackson, who collaborated a few years ago with Maestro Spalding on a landmark and award winning recording for Naxos, will be at the keyboard. In the first half, the always popular Roman Carnival will exuberantly begin our new season, and be prepared for a cosmic experience when we perform the unique and amazing Mysterious Mountain - it's a wondrous journey in mind and spirit - (this has to peak your curiosity and yes, that's a pun). Not to be missed!
