Edward O'Malley - Chair
Governor’s Advisory Council on Volunteerism and Community Service

Ed O’Malley has served the Governor’s Advisory Council on Volunteerism and Community Service since 2003 as Vice Chair and Chairman. A lifelong volunteer and involved citizen, Ed has been passionately involved in increasing service and volunteerism by frequently speaking to individuals and groups and leading the 42 member Board of elected, civic and community leaders.

Each year 1.5 million citizens of New Jersey provide over 175 million hours of service with an estimated fiscal impact of 4 billion dollars, helping our state be the best place to live, work and raise our families.

Ed helped lead one of the largest Fire Rescue Departments in the state as a Fire Commissioner. Through the Governor’s Jefferson Awards, Ed and his team recognize and honor volunteers in 18 different categories.

Ed was recently recognized for his efforts in the community as the 2011 Lawrence Epstein Volunteer of the Year by the Burlington County United Way. He has also been honored by Cerebral Palsy of NJ, March of Dimes, Gloucester County Special Services School District, and Rotary International. Ed and his wife reside in Marlton NJ and have six children.
