NJDOT Commissioner James S. Simpson delivered Christmas stockings and holiday gifts to clients of the HomeFront Family Preservation Center for women and children as part of the Christie Administration's Season of Service. Commissioner Simpson was joined by NJDOT personnel to help spread the cheer.

"Move Over" law press conference
Bridgewater, NJ
NJDOT Assistant Commissioner Anthony Attanasio gathered with Senator Kip Bateman, Bridgewater mayor-elect Dan Hayes and law enforcement officials in Bridgewater to draw attention to New Jersey's Move Over law that requires motorists to move over if safe to do so when they approach an emergency vehicle stopped on the side of the road. In addition to participating in the press conference, NJDOT helped spread awareness by running "Move Over" messages on Dynamic Message Sign displays throughout the state.

Historic Hoboken Ferry Terminal Grand Re-opening event
Hoboken, NJ

NJDOT Commissioner and NJ TRANSIT Board Chairman James Simpson and NJ TRANSIT Executive Director James Weinstein joined local, state and federal officials today to celebrate the completion of a project that returned a portion of Hoboken Terminal to its original design—restoring permanent ferry service to the historic building.

Continuing the Christie Administration's “Season of Service”, Transportation Commissioner James S. Simpson delivered winter coats at the Tender Hearts Association location in Hamilton. The winter coats were donated by New Jersey Department of Transportation employees and family members through the annual state-run “Coat Drive”.

Assistant Commissioner Anthony Attanasio delivered winter coats at the Rescue Mission Trenton store on Carroll Street. Attanasio delivered eight bags of coats and is seen here with Ida Malloy, Vocational and Lifeskills Counselor, Joseph R., resident volunteer, and Mary Gay Abbott Young, CEO of Rescue Mission Trenton.

Commissioner James Simpson joined with Assemblymen John Amodeo and Vince Polistina and Pleasantville mayor Jesse Tweedle Sr. along Routes 322/40 in Atlantic County to highlight the type of work that is converting New Jersey's award-winning Complete Streets policy into action.

NJDOT maintenance crews are installing sidewalks to create safe pedestrian connections to shopping destinations along and near the busy Black Horse Pike (Routes 322/40).

Commissioner Simpson and New Jersey State Police assess road damage from Hurricane Irene

Commissioner Jim Simpson and Colonel Rick Fuentes, Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police took to the air to assess the widespread damage inflicted upon New Jersey by the recent hurricane. NJDOT, NJ State Police and other state agencies have been working around the clock to repair damaged portions of highway, including the washed out section of I-287 northbound in Boonton.

Clean Up NJ wildflower planting Event

Commissioner James Simpson announces a cooperative effort with the Township of Cherry Hill to beautify sections of the Route 70 median in Cherry Hill with wildflower plantings. The initiative advances the Christie Administration's Clean Up NJ campaign to improve the appearance of New Jersey highways to benefit residents and attract and retain businesses to the Garden State. Simpson was joined by Senator James Beach, Cherry Hill mayor Bernie Platt and South Jersey Transportation Authority Executive Director Bart Mueller.
