Bridge between Bound Brook and South
Bound Brook will be closed to traffic from May 11-20


The New Jersey Department of Transportation will be temporarily closing the bridge carrying Main Street over the Delaware & Raritan Canal located between the Somerset County municipalities of Bound Brook and South Bound Brook.

The bridge will be closed to traffic beginning Saturday, May 11 at 6 a.m. The bridge is scheduled to reopen to traffic on Monday, May 20 at 6 a.m. Construction crews will be working around the clock to complete the job.

Work is being done to replace beams supporting the deck of the bridge and the bridge deck itself. A separate pedestrian bridge will remain open during construction.

Detours will be posted.

Traffic traveling from South Bound Brook to Bound Brook over the D&R Canal from Main Street will be detoured via Canal Road to I-287 northbound to Route 28 eastbound to Mountain Avenue south to Main Street, Bound Brook.

Traffic traveling from Bound Brook to South Bound Brook over the D&R Canal from Main Street will be detoured via Mountain Avenue or East Street to Route 28 westbound to I-287 southbound to Canal Road, South Bound Brook.
