NJDOT announces closure of Route 130 in Gloucester City
for railroad crossing rehabilitation
(Trenton) The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced the temporary closure of the railroad grade crossing at the intersection of Route 130 and Klemm Avenue in Gloucester City. The closure will begin at 10:00 P.M. on Friday, September 29, 2006, and end on October 2, 2006.
NJDOT will rehabilitate the railroad crossing by providing new safety markings and a smoother pavement surface. In addition, Route 130 will be resurfaced in the vicinity of the crossing. NJDOT will work around the clock in order to complete the improvement in a timely fashion and to minimize inconvenience to motorists and area residents.
Access to all properties along Route 130 between Klemm Avenue and Nicholason Road will be maintained during the closure. NJDOT is working with local officials, police and emergency responders to ensure public safety and will dedicate an additional Emergency Service Patrol truck to the area. Police will direct traffic at strategic locations along the detour routes and at the construction site.
The signed detours are to be as follows:
Route 130 northbound – Begin detour at Route 130 and Klemm Avenue. Take Klemm Avenue west to Johnson Boulevard. Turn east on Nicholson Road, which will take traffic back to Route 130.
Route 130 southbound – Begin detour at Route 130 and Route 168 (Black Horse Pike). Take Route 168 to West Kings Highway (CR 551). Take West Kings Highway west to Market Street, which will take traffic back to Route 130.
Traffic information will be made available to the public through variable message signs on Route 130, and through real time traffic information on www.njcommuter.com
