Major improvements coming to Route 322
in Logan Township

(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will repair concrete bridge decks at four locations and resurface Route 322 in Logan Township, Gloucester County.

“This Route 322 project will extend the lifespan of these bridge decks and optimize roadway quality and safety in Logan Township,” stated Commissioner Kolluri.

NJDOT will resurface Route 322 eastbound between mileposts 2.235 and 4.078 and Route 322 westbound from milepost 2.235 to milepost 4.182. The existing roadway is severely deteriorated and exhibits rutting, cracking and heavy potholes.

On Monday, March 17, NJDOT will begin to repair the concrete bridge decks at four locations on Route 322 (over the Penn-Reading rail line, over Main Street and Mechanic Street, eastbound over I-295 and westbound over I-295). The bridge over Main Street and Mechanic Street will require daytime single-lane closures with traffic shifts on Route 322 at milepost 2. One lane in each direction on Route 322 will remain open to traffic.

After completing the bridge deck repairs, NJDOT will resurface Route 322 eastbound, which will require periodic overnight single lane closures. In order to minimize traffic impacts during construction, NJDOT will not implement permanent detours or closures during resurfacing. NJDOT will resurface the Route 322 westbound upon completion of Route 322 eastbound. NJDOT is scheduled to complete the project by Memorial Day.

NJDOT will install variable message signs for the duration of mainline work to inform motorists of any change in traffic patterns during nighttime operations. Real time travel and construction information is available online at www.njcommuter.com
