grant program
Economic stimulus grants to improve
local infrastructure,
create jobs, relieve property taxes
( Trenton ) -Commissioner Stephen Dilts today announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is now accepting applications for the Transportation Enhancement Program, which is being funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Dilts said the NJDOT will provide $19.5 million in funding for non-traditional transportation projects that enhance the cultural, aesthetic, historic, and environmental aspects of the State’s transportation system.
Governor Jon S. Corzine also encouraged those eligible to apply for the grants. “Transportation Enhancement grants represent an opportunity for municipalities, counties, and outside agencies to fund projects that will spur economic growth, job creation and provide property tax relief through local infrastructure improvement projects.”
This year’s Transportation Enhancement Program will receive funding through the recently enacted American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. NJDOT will select construction-ready projects for which final plans, specification, estimates and related documents are submitted by January 4, 2010. All projects must be authorized for funding by March 2, 2010. Transportation Enhancement funds will be disbursed on a reimbursement basis.
Applications for the Transportation Enhancement Program are due to the NJDOT on or before May 13, 2009 and must be submitted online.
