NJDOT completes Route 202 southbound over
Route 31 bridge deck replacement in East Amwell

(Trenton) - Commissioner Jim Simpson today announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has completed the bridge deck replacement of Route 202 southbound over Route 31 in East Amwell Township, Hunterdon County. NJDOT completed final re-striping of the roadway last week.

The $2.1 million project has replaced the existing structurally deficient bridge deck with a new concrete deck, repaved the roadway and also installed new sidewalks. NJDOT maintained two lanes of traffic on Route 202 southbound throughout construction, minimizing the impact to motorists.

“Bridge deck replacement projects such as this one go a long way in returning our state’s aging infrastructure to a state of good repair,” said Simpson. “This is money well spent for the residents and commuters who use Route 202 in Hunterdon County.”

Wide-load trucks are now permitted to travel over the new bridge.
