NJDOT to resurface Route 22 in Warren County
Project includes safety improvements at CR 519 intersection

(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will resurface and provide other safety improvements along Route 22 in the townships of Greenwich and Pohatcong, Warren County officials announced today.

“These Route 22 upgrades exemplifies our commitment to improving our roads and investing in state-of-good-repair projects,” said NJDOT Commissioner James Simpson.

NJDOT’s contractor, Intercounty Paving Associates, has begun shoulder closures this week to prepare the roadway for resurfacing. Resurfacing operations will require single lane closures on Route 22 in both directions during off-peak and overnight hours. One travel lane will be maintained on Route 22 in each direction at all times.

All work is weather dependent.

The $2 million project will resurface Route 22 in both directions between mileposts 3.2 and 4.0. In addition, safety improvements will be provided at the intersection with CR 519 (St. James Avenue) including traffic signal modifications, new curbing, landscaping and drainage improvements. A new retaining wall will also be constructed at the intersection.

The project is scheduled to be completed this fall.

Variable Message signs will provide motorists with advance notification of traffic pattern changes. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
