NJDOT announces traffic pattern changes
on Route 46 in Lodi

(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced upcoming traffic pattern changes on Route 46 as construction progresses on the $31.5 million Route 46 and Main Street improvement project in Lodi, Bergen County.

Route 46 traffic will be shifted to establish new construction zones on the left side of the westbound roadway, the right side of the eastbound roadway and in the center median.

Beginning this Friday night, May 13, NJDOT will require nighttime single-lane closures in each direction on Route 46 over the weekend to implement the new traffic patterns. Route 46 westbound will be shifted to the right onto the newly widened roadway and Route 46 eastbound will be shifted to the left. Once the new traffic patterns are established, two travel lanes will be maintained in each direction on Route 46 during daytime hours. Access to all businesses along Route 46 will be maintained.

The Route 46 and Main Street project will improve safety and relieve congestion by replacing the Route 46 bridges over Main Street and the Saddle River and widening Route 46 in order to provide a third lane in each direction from Kimmig Street to the vicinity of Hope Street. In addition, NJDOT will widen Main Street to four through-lanes and a center turning lane at Route 46 and will add traffic signals at the ramps from Route 46 to Main Street.
