Route 49 emergency repair work announced
in Stow Creek Township

(Trenton) - NJDOT officials today announced that a section of Route 49 remains closed for emergency repairs to the outside shoulders of the highway in Stow Creek Township, Cumberland County.

NJDOT maintenance contractor, I.E.W., will be working on Route 49 in the vicinity of milepost 20, between Jericho Road and Shiloh-Cohansey Road, to repair damage to the roadway shoulders from the extensive recent rain storms.

The closure is expected to remain in place until around noon on Friday, August 19. Route 49 motorists will use the following local detours during the closure:

• Route 49 eastbound motorists are being detoured onto Jericho Road east to Shiloh-Cohansey Road south which converges back with Route 49.

• Route 49 westbound motorists are being detoured onto Shiloh-Cohansey Road north to Jericho Road west back to Route 49.

Appropriate signage is in place to inform motorists of the closure and detour routes.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
