Heavily used I-76 ramp connection to I-295
to be closed overnight this week
NJDOT continues major highway rehabilitation work in
Camden County

(Trenton) - NJDOT officials today announced that a heavily traveled ramp connection at the Interstate 295 interchange with Interstate 76 in Bellmawr will be closed overnight next week to accommodate the ongoing Interstate 295 resurfacing project in Camden and Gloucester counties.

NJDOT is scheduled to close the I-76 eastbound Exit 1B ramp to I-295 northbound beginning Monday night, October 24, and continuing nightly through Friday, October 28, from 10 p.m. until around 5 a.m. the following morning. The Department’s construction contractor, a joint venture of Pierson Construction and South State, will be milling and paving this section of I-295 northbound during these hours, so the ramp is being closed as a safety precaution for the workers in the construction zone.

• During the overnight ramp closures all traffic will directed to take Route 42 southbound to Exit 14, make a U-turn at the interchange onto Route 42 northbound to I-76 westbound Exit 1B to I-295 northbound.

NJDOT is rehabilitating an eight-mile stretch of I-295 in both directions between Route 45 (Exit 24) in Gloucester County and Haddonfield-Berlin Road (Exit 32) in Camden County. Construction began on the $70 million project in June 2009 and is scheduled for completion in summer 2012.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
