Route 47 resurfacing announced in Gloucester County

(Trenton) - The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) today announced that Route 47 (Delsea Drive) will be resurfaced in both directions from Howard Street in Clayton Borough to just south of Route 322 (High Street) in Glassboro in Gloucester County.

NJDOT’s contractor, Arawak Paving, began preliminary construction operations last week to prepare the roadway for repaving. Resurfacing and curb repair work requiring lane closures is beginning this week, with the work being performed at night in order to minimize traffic impacts on Route 47. All travel lanes on Route 47 will be maintained during daytime hours, though traffic shifts may be necessary. Access to local businesses and properties will be maintained along the highway.

The $1.3 million project includes milling, paving and restriping over two miles of Route 47 in both directions. The highway pavement condition has deteriorated due to age and usage and is in need of repair. NJDOT anticipates project completion in spring 2012.
