NJDOT to make priority
pothole repairs on Route 24 ramp to I-287

Temporary overnight ramp closure
in Morris County requires a detour

(Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced a temporary overnight closure of the Route 24 westbound ramp to I-287 northbound to repair potholes in Hanover, Morris County.

The ramp has significant pothole damage necessitating a priority repair, which will require an overnight detour while the work is being done.

On Thursday, March 20, between 8 p.m. and 3 a.m. NJDOT's maintenance crews will use a hot asphalt mix to permanently patch the most serious potholes in this area, requiring the overnight ramp closure.

Motorists traveling on Route 24 westbound that want to access I-287 northbound will be directed to get off at Exit 1B Whippany Road (CR 511) and take Park Avenue/Cedar Knolls Road to South Jefferson Road to Mount Pleasant Avenue (Route 10) to I-287 northbound.

Access from Route 24 westbound to I-287 southbound, and I-287 traffic traveling to Route 24 eastbound are not affected by the construction.

Variable message signs will notify motorists of the traffic pattern changes. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information.
