Route 80 eastbound resurfacing project requires lane closures in Passaic and Bergen Counties
Temporary alternating lane closures and ramp detours necessary

(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced a resurfacing project on Route 80 eastbound that will require lane closures in Passaic and Bergen Counties.

Starting this week, Monday, June 13 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., and continuing weeknights for several months, NJDOT’s contractor, Della Pello Paving Inc. is scheduled to temporarily close alternating lanes on Route 80 eastbound Express and Local lanes for the start of a milling and paving project from Beckwith Avenue in Paterson to Polifly Road in Hackensack. Initial work will begin with sign installations and shoulder closings. Milling and paving is expected to begin in early summer along 6.6 miles of I-80. Additional lane closures during off-peak hours may be necessary.

The $5.6 million federally-funded Route 80 eastbound resurfacing project is expected to be completed by winter 2016. NJDOT has designed the milling and paving project to advance with temporary lane closures, reopening after each shift. All lanes will be maintained during the morning and evening commutes. Any required detours will be coordinated with the local authorities.

Variable message signs and detour signs are being utilized throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with the resurfacing project. Throughout the project, NJDOT will provide information before upcoming road or ramp closures.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NJDOT_info.
