Route 71/Main Street lane closures starting today
for utility maintenance in Asbury Park
Local detours will be necessary during construction
(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the start of a utility maintenance project on Route 71/Main Street that will require lane closures and local detours at the Lake Avenue/Springwood Avenue intersection in Asbury Park, Monmouth County.
Beginning today at 4 p.m., Tuesday, January 9, and continuing for approximately three days or until completion, municipal contractor, Lucas Construction Corp., is scheduled to close the two northbound lanes on Route 71/Main Street at the Lake Avenue/Springwood Avenue intersection in Asbury Park for sanitary sewer maintenance work. Route 71/Main Street southbound will remain unaffected during construction on the northbound lanes. When work on the northbound lanes is complete, it will reopen.
Beginning at 9 a.m., Monday, January 15, after construction is completed on Route 71 northbound, the municipal contractor is expected to close the two southbound lanes on Route 71/Main Street between Lake Avenue and Springwood Avenue in Asbury Park to advance the utility maintenance work. During construction on the southbound lanes, Route 71/Main Street northbound will remain unaffected. The following local detour will be in place.
Route 71/Main Street northbound detour:
(Starting at 4 p.m., Tuesday, January 9 and continuing for approximately three days or until completion)
- Route 71/Main Street northbound motorists will be directed to turn right onto Bond Street
- Turn right onto Lake Avenue
- Turn left onto Emory Street
- Turn left onto First Avenue
- Continue to Route 71/Main Street
Route 71/Main Street southbound detour:
(Starting at 9 a.m., Monday, January 15, and continuing for approximately three days or until completion)
- Route 71/Main Street southbound motorists will be directed to turn right onto Bangs Avenue
- Turn left onto Memorial Drive
- Turn left onto Route 33/Corlies Avenue
- Continue to Route 71/Main Street
