Application Process

The I BOAT NJ Program (pdf 35 kb) grant application process is a two part, competitive process that includes an Expression of Interest (EOI) (pdf 2 Mb) form (MSWord 3.64 Mb) and a Proposal (pdf 409 kb).  EOI forms are accepted on a rolling basis and, if approved, will be slotted into the next appropriate grant cycle by the Program Manager. All EOI applicants receive a written response to their submission.

NJDOT/OMR is currently accepting and reviewing EOIs; you are welcome to submit your project for a preliminary review.   However, the present fiscal environment has forced the NJDOT to make difficult project and programmatic decisions in the prioritization of New Jersey's capital program.  I BOAT NJ funding has been eliminated for fiscal year 2012.  All EOIs that fulfill Program requirements will be held until funding becomes available.

Part 1: Expressions of Interest

Applicants must submit EOI to the New Jersey Department of Transportation's Office of Maritime Resources (NJDOT/OMR) at the address below. No additional documentation should be submitted with your EOI, other than the required Brief Project Summary. A cover letter is not necessary. EOI Submission Tips (MS Word, 35kb) are available to assist you with your submisstion.

Note: Engineering firms that apply on behalf of a municpal entity MUST provide a municipal point of contact and associated contact information as a part of their EOI submission.

Part 2: Proposal

Applicants that submit a satisfactory EOI will be notified in writing to submit a formal Proposal. Applicants who submit a deficient EOI will be given the opportunity to resubmit. 

If you choose to hand deliver your Proposals, please deliver them to the front desk of the NJDOT Main Office Building.
