Tour Guide File Format Instructions

KML, Geospatial PDF and PDF Files
KML Files:
Keyhole Markup Language (KML) is a file format that will allow you to view the tour guide routes in a mapping application using a mobile device or a desktop computer. It may be necessary to download an application from the Internet that supports KML file formats (e.g. Google Earth or Google Maps) if you don't have a application already installed. While KML is a native Google mapping file format, other third party applications support the use of KML files as well.

If using a Global Positioning Systems (GPS) device that only opens route data formats such as GPX (GPS eXchange format), it may be necessary to download an application from the Internet to perform the KML to GPX conversion.

Geospatial PDF Files and PDF Files
Geospatial Portable Document Format (PDF) files are PDF files that are geo-referenced that will allow you to view your current location along the tour guide routes using a GPS enabled mobile device. It may be necessary to download an application from the Internet that supports Geospatial PDF file formats (e.g. PDF Maps) if you don't have an application already installed.

The tour guide routes are also available as PDF files. The PDF files will allow you to view or print the tour guide routes in a brochure format (the original size of the tour guides is 12" x 16" and folded to 4" x 6"). The PDF file is not geo-referenced and GPS locations will not be visible when using this file format.
