Speed Limits For State Roads

Route NJ 4
(a) The rate of speed designated for the certain parts of State Highway Route NJ 4 described in this subsection are hereby established and adopted as the maximum legal rate of speed:
1. In Passaic County:
i. In the City of Paterson:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 40 MPH between the westerly terminus of Route NJ 4 and the City of Paterson - Elmwood Park Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 0.00 to 0.13); thence
2. In Bergen County:
i. In the Borough of Elmwood Park:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 40 MPH between the City of Paterson - Elmwood Park Borough corporate line and Rosemont Avenue (approximate mileposts 0.13 to 0.34); thence
(B) Zone 2: 35 MPH between Rosemont Avenue and the westernmost Elmwood Park Borough – Fair Lawn Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 0.34 to 0.64); thence
(2) For the eastbound direction of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 35 MPH between the westernmost Elmwood Park Borough – Fair Lawn Borough corporate line and the easternmost Elmwood Park Borough – Fair Lawn Borough corporate line except for25 MPH in the Saint Anne's School zone, during recess or while children are going to or leaving school, during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 0.64 to 0.98); thence
ii.  In the Borough of Fair Lawn:
(1) For the westbound direction of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 35 MPH between the westernmost Elmwood Park Borough – Fair Lawn Borough corporate line and the easternmost Elmwood Park Borough – Fair Lawn Borough corporate line except for25 MPH in the Saint Anne's School zone, during recess or while children are going to or leaving school, during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 0.64 to 0.98); thence
(2) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 35 MPH between the easternmost Elmwood Park Borough – Fairlawn Borough corporate line and 30th Street (approximate mileposts 0.98 to 1.48); thence
(B) Zone 2: 40 MPH between 30th Street and the junction of Route NJ 4 and Route NJ 208 except for 25 MPH in the Warren Point School #1 school zone, during recess or while children are going to or leaving school, during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 1.48 to 2.00); thence
(C) Zone 3: 50 MPH between the junction of Route NJ 4 and Route NJ 208 and the Fair Lawn Borough – Paramus Borough corporate line (mileposts 2.00 to 2.31); thence
iii. In the Borough of Paramus:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Fair Lawn Borough – Paramus Borough corporate line and the Paramus Borough – River Edge Borough corporate line  (approximate mileposts 2.31 to 5.04); thence
iv.  In the Borough of River Edge:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Paramus Borough – River Edge Borough corporate line and the River Edge Borough – City of Hackensack corporate line  (approximate mileposts 5.04 to 5.42); thence
v.  In the City of Hackensack:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the River Edge Borough – City of Hackensack corporate line and the City of Hackensack – Teaneck Township corporate line  (approximate mileposts 5.42 to 5.94); thence
vi.  In the Township of Teaneck:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the City of Hackensack – Teaneck Township corporate line and the Teaneck Township – City of Englewood corporate line (approximate mileposts 5.94 to 8.52); thence
vii.  In the City of Englewood:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Teaneck Township – City of Englewood corporate line and the City of Englewood – Fort Lee Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 8.52 to 10.03); thence
viii.  In the Borough of Fort Lee:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the City of Englewood – Fort Lee Borough corporate line and Route US 9W (end of route) (approximate mileposts 10.03 to 10.83).
Route NJ 4 (Local) (Identified as SRI Ramp No. C100200)
(a) The rate of speed designated for the certain parts of State Highway Route NJ 4 (Local) described in this subsection is designated and adopted as the maximum legal rate of speed:
1. In Bergen County:
i. In the Borough of Fair Lawn:
(1) For the One-Way (eastbound) direction of Route NJ 4 (Local):
(1) (A) Zone 1: 40 MPH for its entire length (approximate mileposts 1.95 to 2.21).
